BREAKDOWN
Duke City took the San Diego Strike Force to its limit last week, but still fell short while managing only 26 points to the scoreboard. It won't get any easier as the Gladiators as they face just a four-day turnaround from last week's home loss. Monday-to-Friday turnarounds, especially after a loss, is typically not a recipe for success. They will hope to reverse their fortunes against one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Javin Kilgo did not impress in his first start with a 43 percent completion percentage and three interceptions. He could get the start here, but veteran Tasleem “Taz” Wilson is more likely to call the signals under center. Gourney Sloan and Tyron Laughinghouse seemed to be the main targets in the passing game, though that could change under Wilson. The Gladiators were unable to get much of a running game going aside from Sloan, who averaged 8.5 yards per carry and a touchdown last week. Aaron Jackson , Tamar Hart and Jayson Serda are the top defenders on the team, and Trevaughn Claybourne had an interception in last week's opener.

BREAKDOWN
Frisco was put to the test last week by its regional rival, the Tulsa Oilers, in the season opener last week, but were able to pull out the home overtime win. Whether the Fighters are rusty or the Oilers have improved that much over the offseason – or a combination of both – remains to be seen, but that could mean there is a chink in their armor. TJ Edwards completed 62 percent of his throws, but for just 50 yards with an interception. He did his damage on the ground with 70 yards and four touchdowns. That is a bit of a calling card for him and his style of play. Jimmy Smith is a talented rusher with 57 yards last week. Cole Blackman was the top receiver in a limited passing game, but Larry Harrington and Spencer Tears are also targets which will receive attention from Edwards. Harrington also serves as the backup quarterback. Smith also is a threat as a receiver out of the backfield. Micahh Smith was solid in the opener, and Ethan Caselberry and Jalaan Owens were capable in patrolling the backfield. Caleb Thomas anchors the defensive line and Royce See is a solid playmaker.
